MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARDS OF THE GRADUATE SCHOOLS OF CIS, CEM, AND IEC

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Graduate Schools of Computer Information Systems and the Graduate Schools of Computer and Engineering Management as well as the inauguration of the Graduate School of Internet and E-Commerce, I am delighted to accept Rev. Bro. Dr. Prathip Martin Komolmas's advice to organize special events to commemorate the occasion. Two events have been approved, one in the day time and other in the evening of Saturday November 20, 1999 at Hilton International Bangkok.

The evening event is a party from 6:00-11.00 pm with Rev. Bro. Dr. Prathip Martin Komolmas, the President of Assumption University, giving the opening speech, followed by the keynote speech, awards presentation to faculty and staff members and outstanding alumni, dinner and entertainment by professional entertainer as well as alumni and current students of the Graduate Schools. The other event is the symposium entitled "ITEMS '99" for "Information Technology and Engineering Management Symposium 1999" to be held from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The morning session of a symposium will start with the Welcome Address by Rev. Bro. Dr. Prathip Martin Komolmas, followed by the Opening Address by the Chairman of the Boards of the Graduate Schools and then two keynote speeches.

The afternoon of the Symposium with include ten Parallel Sessions. The first session is on Artificial Intelligence with two papers by Dr. Ouen Pin-ngern and Dr. Pattaya Dangprasert. The second session is on Information Technology Management with two papers by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanchit Malaivongs and Assist. Prof. Dr. Boonmark Sirinaovakul. The third session is on Information System Planning by Assist. Prof. Dr. Vichit Avatchanakorn and Dr. Thotsapon Sortrakul. The forth session is on Software Engineering by Dr. Visit Hirankitti and Roy Maynard. The fifth session is on Enterprise Management by Smith Tungkasmith and Dr.Maitree Wasuntiwongs. The sixth session is on Industrial Engineering by Dr. Chamnong Jungthirapanich and Thatchai Chuenchom. The seventh session is on Manufacturing by Dr. Kittipong Srisansanee and Dr. Saranyapong Pramsaneh. The eighth session is also on Information System Planning by Dr. Pratit Santiprabhob and Chackapong Wongwon. The ninth session is on IT Development and Computer Networks by Rear Admiral Prasart Sriphadung and Dr. Aran Namphol. The tenth session is on Algorithms by Dr. Thotsapon Sortrakul and Dr. Ketchayong Skowratananont.

On behalf of the three Graduate Schools, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all parties concerned starting from the President of Assumption University without whose whole-hearted support the establishment of the three Graduate Schools would not have been possible; the faculty and staff members; members of all the committees such as the Organizing Committee, the Program Committee, the Publication Committee, the Local Arrangement Committee, etc; all the authors who kindly accepted the invitation and contributed the papers; and the alumni and current students who have agreed to participate in the Symposium and the evening party. We do hope that the two events will be worthwhile and beneficial to all concerned.
