| Preceptorship for Nursing Practicum:
An International Approach
The Curriculum Administra- tion Committee of the Faculty
of Nursing Science organized the Preceptorship for "Nursing
Practicum: An International Approach" on 29 May - 17 July
2004 in room A-51, "M" Building, Hua Mak Campus.
The course consisted of ten sessions (30 hours) of English.
The opening remarks, "Holistic Development: Human Resources
Policy" was delivered by Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The topics of the seminar included, "Teaching-Learning
Process in Nursing Education", by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nanthaphan
Chinlumprasert, Dean, Faculty of Nursing Science; Preceptor-ship:
Professional Support Roles in Clinical Practice and Student
- Centered approach in Nursing Practicum by Patricia L. Humbles,
Department of Nursing, Medical College of Georgia, Clinical
Teaching Methods: Convention
Innovation by Assoc. Prof.Rujires Thanooruk, Department of Nursing
Science, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol
University; Measure- ment and Evaluation in Nursing Practicum
by Dr. Sangob Laksana, Acting Director, Center for Education
Research, Faculty of Education; and English Communication in
a Clinical Setting by A. Gregory S. Kharmalki from the AU English
Department.
This seminar was aimed towards preparing a qualified nursing
staff to be efficient AU preceptors, enhance the quality of
nursing supervision, and maintain the standard ratio of instructors
to students.
There were 23 participants including nursing instructors,
clinical nurses from Bhumibol Hospital, Noppharat Ratchathani
Hospital, and clinical research assistants.
