Community Health Education and Promotion

Dr. Nanthaphan and A.Yaowalak (Top) work in the health education program for the aging

Dr. Nanthaphan Chinlumprasert, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Science, and A Yaowalak Jittakoat, instructor of Community Health Nursing Division, conducted their participatory action research program entitled, "Development of Health (Top) work in the health education Promotion Behavior, Utilizing Community Participation Model", at Ban Wat Daeng Thamachat Saima District, Nonthaburi Province on 27 December 2002.

This community implementation program included a physical check up, health education and health promotion activities for the ageing.

There were 52 participants, consisting of five community leaders, 35 elders, 11 caregivers, three community researchers, and three health care personnel.

All participants enjoyed the group physical exercises especially, "Tai Kek", a Chinese fitness dance, and "Ram Mai Phlong", a Thai-style exercise, using a long bamboo stick.

The active participation of the villagers in this research has helped in better understanding health promotion among the ageing.
