Asst. Prof. Dr. Kittiphan Techakittiroj, Chairperson of the Department of Computer Engineering, of the Faculty of Engineering, has been nominated to receive the St. Hilaire Award for Distinction in Academic Writing (3rd Class) during the "2002 AU Awards for Excellence" ceremony held on 24 December 2002 (see details in 'Common Activities').
Dr. Kittiphan received a scholarship from AU in 1995 to study for Ph.D. degree at Case Western Reserve Univ. in the USA. He joined AU as full-time instructor in the Department of Computer Engineering, which he formed. He has been involved in many research projects, both academic and industrial. His research areas are automation and control, power electronics, embedded systems in digital control and network applications. He has also developed many commercial products and processes for Thai industries. Part of his works includes concrete-mixing plant automation, a 25-kw motor drive for air-conditioning and a proximity care reader.
