The 1st Thai Fermented Liquor Festival

For a long time in the history, the Thais have developed and produced different kinds of liquors for entertaining and drinking in various festivals. They include such renowned fermented liquors and strong distilled liquors such as ‘Ou’ and ‘Sato’. They all are highly valuable wisdom of the Thai ‘One Tambon - One Product Rivitalizing Thai Local Wisdom’. With great inspiring collaboration across government agencies of Thailand via the National One Tombon One Product Administrative Committee, Thai wisdom has once again caught attention of the public and thus got the opportunity to reveal its great essence and values in this ‘Thai Fermented Liquor Festival’, held for the first time in Thai history from 6 to 10 of September 2002 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The Prime Minister, Dr. Taksin Shinnawatra opened the Festival on 6 September 2002 at the Plenary Hall, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center where honorable guests, various key media representatives were invited to witness the Ceremony.

The Biotechnology junior students, Mr. Nattinai Chatsathien-pong and Mr. Tanachote Limpa-chote, were our representatives to present the products from the Faculty of Biotechnology, such as red wine, wine slurpy and rice milk. This festival will not only bring pride to Thai people but also make the world community to realize another dimension of one of the most valuable heritages of Thailand.
