Workshop on Aesthetics

The workshop on 'Aesthetics' was organized by the School of Architecture during 11-12 March 2002. The workshop was opened to interested students as well as the public. It was conducted by Prof. Jon Ashmann who is a distinguished lecturer at several schools in the US and many countries around the globe, including Spain and Italy. For many years, he had guided his students to bring their creativities from the level of intuition to the tangible one.

The workshop which started in the morning began with Prof. Ashmann's lecture, which comprehensively introduced his workshop through several works done by the students from several nations and backgrounds. Furthermore, he shared his unique drawings, executed during his long period of medication, all of which will later be exhibited in Bangkok. In the afternoon, the participants were assigned to launch their works.

The outcome of the workshop had shown that all participants gradually and increasingly became aware of the process of making in regards to the conception of Aesthetics. Each of them was encouraged to criticize other works freely. This has encouraged them to exchange, and to clarify ideas among themselves automatically. At the end of the workshop, Prof. Ashmann gave his conclusion as a clue to the students in a hope for further development.
