LONG LIVE THE FRENCH REPUBLIC.
NATIONAL DAY OF FRANCE AT ASSUMPTION UNIVERSITY.

On July 12,2004 the French National Day was fittingly celebrated at the Bang Na Campus of Assumption University. The Department of Business French had organised the proceedings with active support and encouragement given by the President Emeritus Dr. P. Martin Komolmas and the Cultural Attache from the French Embassy Mr. Christian Depierre who personally attended and officiated at the proceedings organised by the Dapartment of French at Bang Na.

At the opening ceremony held in the morning the President Emeritus set the happy tone for the day by giving his welcome speech in French language. He was followed by Mr. Christian Depierre, who spoke about "La Francophone" and the establishment of friendship among French speaking countries. He made, particular mention of the help and encouragement provided by the French Embassy such as the grant of scholarships to our students and the donation and distribution of French books to our Central Library etc.

In the afternoon session Mr. Olivier Ribault and Ms. Marisa from the Education Department of the French Embassy made power point presentations about programs of studies in France and they also distributed books entitled" Study in France" to all participants. An interesting exhibition also was staged at the Plaza, Cathedral of Learning on French language and culture supported by beautiful photographs and scenic pictures.
