Thailand's most loved Princess HRH Maha Chakri Sirindhorn celebrated her birthday on April 2, 2003. Assumption University j oined other schools and universities in Thailand to greet "Princess Sudha" as she is affectionately known in the Kingdom. The Student Athletics and Activities Center, attached to the Student Affairs Department coordinated two simultaneous greeting ceremonies followed by aerobic dance programs at Hua Mak and Bang Na campuses.

The objective of the aerobic dance performance was to spread health consciousness among the people, under the auspices of the Princess' patronage even as they paid respects to her on her birth anniversary. Professor Dr. Srisakdi Charmonman, V.P. for Information Technology and Dr. Vindhai Cocracul, Dean of the ABAC School of Management led the celebratory ceremonies at Hua Mak and Bang Na campuses respectively.

Dressed in sports attire - with a significant number of people wearing light purple t-shirts designed by Princess Sudha, for the Chinese lunar year of the goat, the university communities at both campuses braved the April heat to swing and sweatout to very lively music led by spirited aerobic dance leaders, from accre-dited national sports centers. The aerobic dances, commencing at 4 p.m., kept university administrators, faculty, staff and students on their feet for one whole hour.

By the end of the aerobic dance sessions, young and old hobbled away to the retreats of shade and water, taking in the pleasures and delights of aerobic dancing. Behold a new tradition has been established at the university, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Day! A day of national health consciousness observed at Au and the Kingdom at large. Reported by A.
