Assumption University celebrated its feast of Assumption on August 14,2003. The Assumption of the Virgin Mary into heaven has for many centuries been a special event in the Catholic church and the Feast of the Assumption is celebrated traditionally on August 15 every year.

The celebrations at Bang Na campus began at John XXIII conference center at 13:00 hrs, when the Department of Music Business was inaugurated in the presence of Faculty, students and guests, by Rev. Brother Bancha Saenghiran, President of the university. President Emeritus Rev. Brother Prathip Martin Komolmas spoke of his vision for the newly inaugurated department and the university at large. Dr.Pimporn Chandee, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts spoke in commemoration of the inauguration of the Department. Professor Sasaki Masayoshi, the Chairperson of the Department of Music Business delivered a speech and then entertained the audience with some lilting classical pieces from Beethovan and Chopin on piano. The pianist exuded emotion and deep sensitivity to the nuances of the sonatas and nocturnes he had featured and his musical talent was very much appreciated by the audience.

The participants then congregated at the Chapel of St. Louis Marie de Montfort where Rev. Fr. Francis Anastasia (Nash) SJ, Coordinator of the ABAC-Loyola Exchange Program, presided over the Eucharisitic celebration of the Holy mass in Honor of the Virgin Mary.

Thereafter university officers, faculty, staff and students proceeded to the statue of the Virgin Mary, which is known as SEDES SAPIENTIA, the symbol of the university. The president of the university crowned the Virgin Mary in a brief but very impressive ceremony. Immediately after the crowning ceremony, the gathering posed for a commemorative photograph before recessing to the Sala Thai to enjoy delicious snacks provided by courtesy of the university.
