ORIENTATION FOR NEWLY APPOINTED LECTURERS

An orientation session for lecturers selected for the new academic year commencing June 2001 was organised by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and held at the Hall of Fame on June 23,2001. Altogether 41 new instructors of various nationalities were appointed comprising 22 Thais, 13 Americans and one each from Australia, India, Japan, New Zealand, Pakistan and Vietnam. Based on their training and specialization the teachers were assigned to various faculties such as Architecture, Arts, Business Administration, Biotechnology, Engineering, Education and Science and Technology.

Lectures were given by a number of administrators including the Rector, Dr. P. Martin Komolmas, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, Vice Rector for Special Affairs, Dr. Visith Srivichai-ratana and covered such topics as the vision and mission of the university, rules and regulations framed and incorporated in the Faculty Manual and the roles and responsibilities of teachers and the code of conduct and ethics of the teaching profession.

The new lecturers were highly appreciative of the instructions and guidance provided to them which will enable them to proceed on the right track straightaway without having to resort to "trial and error" methods to acquire the necessary experience and training.
