The International Journal of Management and Tourism celebrated World Tourism Day with a reception for Rev. Bro. Martin Komolmas and Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran at ABAC HOTEL on 27 September 2000. Completmentary copies of the first issue of the new millenium which contained the dedication were distributed by Dr. Navin Mathur and Mr. Rob 1 Dodson, Editor and Associate Editor respectively of the IJMT both of whom happen to be faculty members in in our Graduate School of Tourism Management.

The IJMT Publishing House was founded in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India in 199 1 and IJMT became its first international journal in the following year. It has a global readership which focuses on South and Southeast Asia. The journal aims to provide a platform for refereed academic articles as well as reports on practical applications.

Messrs. Mathur and Dodson also report that the Asia Pacific Tourism Association held its 6th Annual Conference in Phuket, Thailand from June 28 to July 1, 2000 and that the meeting was well attended by academics and students from the region. It was a good chance for exchange of views and discussions and it also provided opportunity to some participants for interaction with Mr. Ryuji Yamakawa, tourism expert at the ESCAP Office, Bangkok, as in the case of Ms. Suwimon M. in the photo on the right.
