IFCU General Assembly 2000

Venue : The 20th IFCU General Assembly was held at the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle, Australia.

Theme : The theme of this Assembly was "Catholic Universities of the 3rd millennium: global context"

Date : August 1 - 5,2000

Partipants : There were 189 participants from 46 countries

Assumption University of Thailand was represented by Rev. Bros. Bancha S., V.P. (Academic) and Visith S., V.P. (Student Affairs)

Opening Ceremony (Aug. 1, 2000)

The opening ceremony was held on August 1,2000 from 16.30 hours to 19.00 hours. It began with a procession into the function hall. The words of God were read in combination with acting on stage and accompanied by singing from the parish choir.

After the opening ceremony, the university treated the participants to a light dinner.

Aug. 2, 2000

The theme of the day was "issues and trends of the Catholic Universities in the six contenents." Representatives from the six contenents; Europe, Africa, Asia, North America,

Aug. 5, 2000

The General Assembly dealt with the vote on statutes. IFCU President, Secretary General, and Director of the Centre for Coordination of Research gave reports of their tasks and achievements.

The General Assembly discussed and approved the reports.

Presentation of candidates and election of the IFCU Board.

Decision on venue of the next General Assembly. Two countries were proposed for the next General Assembly, Uganda and Central Africa and based on the votes cast Uganda was selected. The IFCU President then declared conclusion of the 20"' General Assembly.
