HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY.

August 12th marks the Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand which is observed every year as an important national holiday. People from all walks of life and every part of the country, will praise, pray for and felicitate Her Majesty particu-larly today and tomorrow.

Assumption University, through the Holy Order of the St. Gabriel Brothers and as an education institution, has long received gracious countenance from the Monarchy and on all important occasions, we have expressed our grateful thanks for this unique association including the royal favours granted.

Her Majesty the Queen's Birthday has also been designated as Mother's Day to honour her nationwide and to give self-esteem and honour to all mothers in the country. Besides the many duties that Her Majesty the Queen has to perform, she is probably best known for taking up the cause of the rural poor, not only in terms of health service and personal assistance, but also for providing them with a dignified livelihood in their own villages through the various royal projects.

Administrators, faculty and staff members participate in the birthday celebration of H.M. Queen Sirikit in front of the Tower of David.
All along in the past Her Majesty has made a special effort to create an awareness for the need to preserve forests. Wherever she goes, wherever she meets the people, in the hilly areas, or on the plains, she talks about forests as storehouse for rain and water. With rain, Thailand will be fertile and prosperous. This new awareness is due solely to the efforts of Her Majesty.

These are many activities which show Her Majesty the Queen in her many roles, at home and abroad, as the Mother of the Nation, as a supporter of the poor, as a patron of the Arts, and as a preserver of nature.

The faculty, staff members and students of Assumption University all j oin in sincerely wishing Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the blessings of good health, happiness, prosperity and a long life.

A Dedication to Our Beloved Queen Sirikit

August Queen of the purest ray serene
Majestically appearing in our minds
Beauteous Mother, o'er all humankind and nature Queen:
To You many a subject turns and finds
Constant care and love, relief and succour
Celestial blessings flow from Your heart afar
For us Your children, assembling across the ornate lands
To accolade our festive Queen, Mother always giving with open hands
What like You can we do or give?
How like You could we fuller lives live?
This occasion of Your joyous birthday is propitious time
For us to unite to praise You under every circumstance and clime:
History though staid and sure, cannot fully record
Your eternality our Queen, in whom Regality, Generosity and Love accord
