When H.E. Mme. Chen Zhili, the Republic of China's top educator, who is on an official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand, opted for an inspection tour of a private university, naturally Assumption University was chosen and included in her itinerary. So she came to our campus on October 8, 1999 along with her retinue of officials including the Chinese Ambassador and accompanied by senior executives of the Ministry of University Affairs. The visit was a great honour to our University and a big opportunity to show of the stuff that we are made of; the international faculty, the state-of-art facilities, the computer clusters, laboratories and the libraries. The administrators played to the hilt in extending the warmest possible welcome to such a high level delegation including an exhibition underscoring Thai-Chinese relation, investiture of H.E. Mme. Chen Zhili as a Distinguished Visiting Professor of A.U. and a sumptuous luncheon hosted in honour of the guests. Our readers will perhaps agree that the photos reproduced here speak volumes.
