Marathon on Human Rights for Peace.

Assumption University in association with the Thai Volunteer Service and under the sponsorship of the Regional Unit for Social and Human Science in Asia and Pacific, UNESCO organised a seminar on January 20, 1999 which was presided over by H.E. Prachuab Chaiyasarn, Minister for University Affairs of the Royal Thai Government. Dr. Malama S. Meleisea, the Regional Adviser of the UNESCO was the keynote speaker. The objectives of this campaign are as follows.

To develop body of knowledge, tools and techiques, processes and personnel in promoting human rights issues.

To disseminate the concepts and human right issues to communities in far out regions of Thailand (rural villages in working areas of border patrol police).

To cooperate with organisations in Indochina countries in setting up and developing human rights activities.

Todevelop, evaluate and synthesize experiences of human rights activities operated in Thailand and Indochina countries.
