The Local Wisdom Beverage Festival

| As part of the celebrations of His Majesty the King's Sixth Cycle Birth Anniversary, the Economic Committee of Parliament, the Ministry of Interior, and the Biotechnology Faculty of Assumption University organized "The Local Wisdom Beverage Festival" on January 17 - 19 , 1999 at the Hall of Fame. The Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior H.E. Major General Sanan Kajornprasart presided at the opening ceremony. There were many interesting activities such as the seminar at which many distinguished speakers participated. There was also opportunity for viewing famous Thai traditional products from different provinces of Thailand, tasting alcoholic beverages and enjoying the Thai classical dance and music performance simultaneously. Moreover there was also the Local Wisdom Beverages Contest and prizes were awarded for various categories of wines submitted as entries for adjudication. The main objective of this festival is to persuade imbibers to switch from expensive foreign wines to competitive local products. |
