AU Lecturers at International Conference
Dr. Edward P. Vargo, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Mr. Glen V. Chatelier, lecturer in the Department of Business English, participated in and International Conference on Feminist Literature, from January 7 to 9, 1999 held at the Radisson Hotel, Bangkok. The opening ceremony was presided over by the Prime Minister, H.E. Chuan Leekpai and some 90 learned speakers including officials from, universities in U.S.A., Brazil, Canada, South Africa, Zimbabive, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan took part in the various proceddings. The conference, celebrating Srinakharinwirot University's Golden Jubilee Anniversary,
was jointly hosted by Salisbury State Universtiy, Maryland, U.S.A. and Srinakharinwirot University of Thailand. Dr.Vargo presented a paper entitled "Class Conquers Gender : The Case of John Updike's S." Mr.Glen V. Chatelier's paper was on "The Romance of Gentility and the Struggles of Women to Find a Voice in Society".
