At a special ceremony orgainsed at Salle De Expo on August 26, 1999 for students who won gold, silver and bronze medals at the XXth Southeast Asia Games recently held at Brunei the following medallists were acclaimed and honoured.

  1. Ms. Chonlathon Vorathamrong - 3 Golds in Swimming.
  2. Mr. Dulyarit Phuangthong - Silver in Swimming
  3. Ms. Sivaporn Meyer - Silver in Teakwando.
  4. Ms. Duangruthai Thammaphanya - Bronze in Swimming.

The President of Swimming Association of Thailand, General Yuthasak Sasipraspa was specially invited to participate and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Bancha Saenghiran presided over the meeting assisted by Vice Presidents Dr. Visith Srivichairatana, Dr. Chavalit Meenuch and others. We hope that all staff, faculty members and the entire student body will join us in applauding the heroes who brought fame and honour to Assumption University and Thailand.

Young Chonlathon is reputed to be the best women's backstroker in Southeast Asia and we are certain she will continue to shine and her name will be enshrined in our Hall of Fame. Depending upon domicile each gold medal translates into the following cash prized.
