An important seminar was organised on the topic of "Service at the Customs Houses of Thailand: Problems and Solutions" on April 10, 1998 and the participants included such national figures as Dr. Supachai Panitchapakdi, Deputy Prime Minister, Mr.Pichase Panichatikul, Deputy Prime Minister of Finance, Mr.Somchainuk Engtrakul, Director General of Customs, Mr.Chavalit Boonkiattbuts, President of Thai National Shippers Council, Mr Praphad Phodhivorakhun, Vice Chairman of Federation of Thai Industry etc.
The Rector, Dr. P. Martin Komolmas gave the opening speech in which he welcomed and expressed greatful thanks to distinguished guests for finding the time to participate in the seminar in spite of their heavy schedules. Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Srisakdi Charmonman spoke on "International Business Seminar: Background, Rationale and Goals."
Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi delivered a lecture on the topic " Trend in International Business Management vis-à-vis the Thai Economic Crises" in which he dealt at length with the strategies for survival through boosting of exports. Deputy finance Minister, Mr. Pichase Panvichatikul addressed the gathering on the topic "Services at the Customs of Thailand and Adoption of Reforms in Aftermath of Asian Economic Crisis"
There were also panel discussions that focused on "Problems and Obstacles in Customs Procedures, Causes and Solutions."
